Named for its blue color, this process was especially popular in engineering. Easy to make and low cost, they were used to reproduce drawings, and became known as "blue prints".

8.1% (w/v) solution of potassium ferricyanide and a 20% solution of ferric ammonium citrate. Applied to paper or cloth. Dried overnight. Exposed in the sun. Washed with water.
